Entertainment

 

The meaning of Entertainment quite freely interpreted would be: “Activity with the aim of relaxation and attainment of pleasure”! There are two possible distinctions within the term Entertainment. The first one is described as “sit back and watch” - so called “Passive Entertainment” - and the second is defined as Entertainment as interaction with the audience – so called “Active Entertainment”. Passive Entertainment includes areas like theatre, opera, concert, cinema, etc., active Entertainment takes it further to the fields of amusement like sports or spare-time activities. The borders between these two different forms of Entertainment are fluent. E.g. is a public reading of an author in every way a kind of passive Entertainment, while a rock-concert with a crowd of dancing people tends to be a mixture between active and passive Entertainment, surely with a bigger weight on active Entertainment. A very big influence on this development performs of course the so called Entertainment-industry. The commercial fields discovered very soon that there is a lot of money buried in the Entertainment sector.

Let us take this a little further: Entertainment mixed up with information. See? Now you got a totally new business – Infotainment. Entertainment used as a part of the recreational process during a ever-lasting conference or more generally speaking Entertainment combined with knowledge transfer. Or Entertainment and shopping… The result is shown in all kinds of new shopping malls all over the world: cinema, theatre and shopping – all in one house. That’s how passive Entertainment is transferred into an active Entertainment experience.

As far as it concerns our form of art Entertainment is the centre and straightedge at the same time. The spectator wants Entertainment, he wants to be entertained!

Opus Furore satisfies all the different parts of Entertainment! Active Entertainment provide our street-shows with musketeers, fencing, juggling, buskers and the unicycle or even more the walk-act. Passive Entertainment is represented in our gala-show! And what would be a feastful dinner without the Entertainment of Opus Furore? Just another boring supper!
